There has to be hundreds (if not more) chocolate chip cookie recipes in existence. Everyone seems to have their own slightly different version.
I probably wouldn’t turn down a chocolate chip cookie made from any of those versions. Just sayin’.
But whenever I make chocolate chip cookies, this is my go-to personal favorite. The recipe produces a very slightly crispy cookie that manages to remain chewy. Baking the cookies at a lower-than-standard temp (325 degrees) is what makes the magic happen.
If you are looking to try something a little different than your standard chocolate chip cookie recipe, give this one a try. You won’t be disappointed!
My Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 3/4 c. butter, softened
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. chocolate chips
1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
2. Cream the butter and sugars together until light and fluffy. Add in the egg and mix, then repeat with the egg yolk and vanilla.
3. Add in the dry ingredients and mix. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand.
4. Scoop the dough onto a cookie sheet using a cookie scoop or a teaspoon. Bake for 15-16 minutes, until the cookies are light golden in color. Do not overbake. Remove the cookies from the oven and leave them on the cookie sheet for several minutes to finish baking. Remove the cookies from the baking sheet to a wire cooling rack or waxed paper.
